Picture of Today 9/172017, Rain Game

Football seems best on Sunday, more time for casual enjoyment and social gatherings among more sports fans. Today in Seattle, the local Seahawks played the San Francisco 49ers (Seahawks won 12-9). I missed much of the game but heard the 49ers played well and the Seahawks offense was a bit weak.

Meanwhile, the rain happened for much of the day. The drops weren’t heavy but were enough in giving the city a much-needed sprinkle, after the recent smoky weather. Every drop on my head felt good, and I look forward to more in the coming days.

Today’s shot is brought to you with extra gloom in Seattle, for the recent Seahawks loss in the NFL playoffs this season.

Yet, the 12 spirit shall live on as fans here shall be wearing their jerseys and waving their flags again for the next season. Also, the game against the Carolina Panthers had a fantastic and amazing second half and that is worth some cheer for such valiant effort. But forget that painful first half, (unless you’re more of a Panther fan; than cheers and congrats to you). Now, I look forward to the next season.

In the meantime, here is a great quote to ponder from football legend Joe Namath…

“Football Is an honest game. It’s true to life . It’s a game about sharing. Football is a team game. So is life.”

Today, will be a day long remembered by football fans who followed today’s epic game between Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.

After a brutal first half, the Seattle Seahawks came back with a vengeance (two touchdowns in 44 seconds!) in the late 4th quarter, and to score a final win in overtime. Though Green Bay played great all through, the real losers were some scattered Seahawk fans who reportedly left the stadium and local bars during halftime; probably missing out on that sweet comeback later on. Those who had faith or stuck to cheer on when things looked bleak, shared more in the grand victory.

After some rain, the night was cold for my walk home. I heard Sea…….Hawk chants everywhere which warmed the heart, and with some shouts for a Super Bowl repeat win in two weeks. Meanwhile, I took some pics of the more grand tributes to our home team spirit, above and below.

Seattle Space Needle Seahawks pride

Go ‘Hawks!

The great Space Needle show its colorful spirit for the recent Seattle Seahawks win and advancement in the playoffs. Above the saucer, a large blue flag displays the number 12, a traditional honor to the 12th Man; a term used by sports fans with a long history, but now more exclusive to Seattle, thanks to a large lawsuit and settlement with Texas A&M University (who originally coined it as a fan term since 1921).

Another fun term among Seattle football fans is the “Beast Quake.” This came from a Seahawks game back on January 8, 2011; where fans literally shook the Earth in excitement during the playoffs in the 4th quarter as its star running back, Marshawn Lynch made a 67-yard touchdown run, ensuring the crucial win against the New Orleans Saints.
